2. Consider being an Advanced Practice Nurse instead of a doctor – less school, more money.
It’s shocking, but advance practice nurses who administer anesthesia make more money than doctors, and doctors have to have four or five years more medical school than nurses.
3. Find a good healthcare recruiter
There are recruiters out there who are experienced in the medical field and will be willing to help you find better paying jobs. Recruiters work confidentially so you can tell them your goals without putting your current job in danger.
4. Specialize
If you want to make more money and become more marketable, don’t stop at learning radiologic technology, specialize. Computed Tomography, Mammography and MRI are just a few specializations guaranteed to increase your income, even though they do require advanced education.
5. Get a business degree and manage.
If you have an interest in management, you may have to get a MBA to reach the top positions. Technologists interested in managing can start by applying to be shift supervisor or a chief radiologic technologist.

There are many business colleges that offer night classes in health care subjects, and they need instructors. Some colleges require advanced degrees, but smaller private ones may not, and teaching is a great way to add to your income by doing something fun and fulfilling.
7. Train.
There is a demand for trainers and representatives to work for equipment manufacturers. Someone needs to teach other technicians how to use the new machines they just bought. Trainers and representatives may also act as consultants to determine appropriate radiation levels for patients of different ages and medical needs.
